September 10, 2021
Dear Friends and Community Members,
I cannot thank you enough for your support over the past 15 years. Some of you have been with us each of those past years, some of you are more recent supporters.
This year would have been our 16th year hosting the annual Michael Edward Bratton II Turkey Trot. Like all large gathering events in these unprecedented times, and the restrictions and safety measures due to COVID 19, we have made the difficult decision to not hold our Trot this Thanksgiving 2021.
I know that upwards of 4000 people look forward to starting their Thanksgiving morning with our uplifting event. We are currently in the planning stages right now and promise you that we are committed to hosting some version of the Trot next year, but with keeping our community’s safety and health as our top priority.
We are planning to have a message like always, either live or live stream. Our goal is to encourage all of our past participants to stop, give thanks, and complete their own run/walk. This year now more than ever we want to help start your Thanksgiving morning off in a positive and uplifting way.
We are greatly saddened that we cannot host all of you this Thanksgiving morning. Your support over the years has certainly help fund so many local non-profits, youth activities, and of course, ANew Day. More importantly, the annual MEB 2 Turkey Trot has been a voice for mental health and suicide prevention.
We are so grateful to all of dedicated sponsors and participants for your support. This year, if you would like to continue your funding of essential causes in this community, it would be so appreciated. Every dollar donated this year will go directly to our benefactors, as we will have no expenses in holding the Trot.
Our hearts are filled with sadness in coming to this decision. God willing, we will have next Thanksgiving morning to kick off a successful Trot with all of you. Please consider a donation to the MEB 2 Foundation.
With heartfelt gratitude,
President, MEB 2 Foundation
